20 Mixed Color Neocaridina Shrimp - Live Freshwater Aquarium Inverts

Neocaridina Shrimp, often mixed in color, are a popular choice for shrimp hobbyists, especially for beginners! The recommended rule is to have 10 shrimps per gallon in your tank. These shrimp are hardy, non-aggressive, and spend most of their time eating algae and biofilm off plants, glass, and substrate, making them an excellent clean-up crew for your tank. To ensure the success of your new shrimp colony, simply dechlorinate clean tap water or RO water, cycle your tank with some plants, and they will have the opportunity to thrive. It is important to avoid using tap water heavy in metals or chemicals that are not healthy for your shrimp.

Additionally, please ensure that all foods or aquarium fertilizers are shrimp-safe when dosing your tanks. Proper tank parameters for a successful Neocaridina colony include a temperature of 65-80F, pH between 6.5-8, TDS of 170-250 ppm, and GH of 5.5-8.

When it comes to breeding these shrimp, we provide you with a healthy ratio of females to male shrimp so you can establish your own thriving colony. It is recommended to keep different colors of Neocaridina separate to maintain the color and purity of the offspring. There are various shrimp foods available on the market. Neocaridina shrimp do well with dry foods such as fish flakes (without metals) or fresh vegetables such as boiled spinach. It is important to boil any fresh vegetables and let them air-cool before placing them in the tank for sterilization purposes.

Neocaridina shrimp also enjoy grazing on different types of plants, such as java moss, taiwan moss, fissidens, bucephalandra, and java fern. Baby shrimps also like grazing on floating plants such as dwarf water lettuce, Salvinia minima, and Frogbit.
